Did you know that of the 5 best-selling vehicles in Canada, 4 of them happened to be trucks; & the other one was an SUV. Maybe it was when we had negative oil, maybe it was the consumer’s response to the pandemic, but overall trucks were the most popular vehicle type sold.
2020 was one crazy year… but one fact remains, the more of a certain model that exists in the market, the higher its resale value in the future (relative to the purchase price.)

The F150
In 2020, Ford sold 128,650 models of it’s F-Series truck in Canada (a sales decrease of 11.4% as compared to 2019; 145,210 models)
What makes this vehicle the most popular may have something to do with its brand motto “Built Tough”, but ford has been the best selling truck for the last 54 years.
The F150 is known for having a military-grade aluminum-alloy body that keeps this truck light & durable. Since the truck is light, it is able to carry more weight (because the suspension is carrying less of the truck’s weight). The truck is also able to pull more weight (again, because it is pulling less of its own weight).
The Dodge Ram
In 2020, Dodge sold 83,673 models of it’s Ram Pickup truck in Canada (a sales decrease of 6.61% as compared to 2019; 89,593 models)
Dodge may perform slightly worse than ford in multiple areas, however, the brand makes up for it in customizability. The ram is known for having the cushiest suspension, meaning the vehicle is equipped for even the worst road conditions.
The truck ranks second in performance, only beaten slightly by the ford. Rams are known to have more comfortable interiors, and the ability to upgrade certain components for specific performance requirements.
Dodge Ram’s are known to be workhorses and are commonly purchased as diesel vehicles (as compared to the ford primarily being purchased as a gas vehicle).
The Toyota RAV4
in 2020, Toyota sold 67,977 models of its RAV4 SUV in Canada (a sales increase of 4.18% as compared to 2019, 65,248)
The RAV4 is the top-selling SUV and the third best selling vehicle in Canada. It is the first vehicle on this list which actually sold more in 2020, then were sold in 2019 (despite the pandemic.)

In 2020, Chevrolet sold 52,767 models of its Silverado pickup truck in Canada (a sales increase of 15.12% as compared to 2019, 45,248)
Chevy’s are known for being long lasting & the most fuel efficient. The truck is able to tow (for the most part) the same loads as the F150 and the Dodge Ram. What makes the chevy different then the other makes is the focus on the vehicle on being a working mans truck.
The Chevy has the best in class standard cargo box volume and is equipped with more, better located built in tie downs. The chevy is the most fuel efficient diesel truck of its class on the market. The vehicle is meant to look good, with 8 different designs consumers can chose from.
The GMC Sierra
In 2020, GMC sold 51512 models of its Sierra pickup truck in Canada (a sales increase of 5.46% as compared to 2019, 48,846)
The GMC Sierra has the largest bed space and the first carbon fiber bed which makes this truck great for hauling furniture and taking refuse to the dump. The truck also has the best horsepower of any light-duty diesel, meaning that even tho the truck has a small engine, it still outputs a large amount of horsepower, making it both powerful and efficient.
The truck also has 15 camera views including a transparent trailer view, meaning if you own this truck, you don’t need to be the best driver, as there is a great deal of visual assistance for maneuvering.
